The Electronics and Neurotechnology Group, led by Professor Hadi Heidari, is a research group within the Microelectronics Lab (meLAB) at the University of Glasgow, dedicated to the development of next-generation bioelectronics, neuromodulation systems, and quantum-integrated circuits.

The group focuses on pioneering non-invasive medical technologies, advanced sensor systems, and cryogenic electronics to revolutionise healthcare, computing, and human-machine interfaces.

Our work also encompasses CMOS-spintronic sensing interface circuits enabling them to be manufactured as integrated Analog Front-End (AFE) including various circuit building blocks e.g. analogue-to-digital converters (ADC) and DC-DC converters for low-power and high-speed electronics systems. We are designing CMOS analogue and mixed-signal circuits for various applications e.g. biomedical and cryogenic electronics (Cryo-CMOS).

Our research is structured around two core themes:

A. Medical Electronics

Development of miniaturised, non-invasive neuromuscular sensors using cutting-edge magnetoelectronics.

Creation of wireless deep brain stimulation (DBS) systems using multifunctional nanomaterials.

Research into wearable and implantable bioelectronic devices for neurological monitoring and therapy.

Advancements in photodynamic therapy and biomagnetic prosthetics to enhance patient care.

B. Integrated Circuits

Design of analogue/mixed-signal sensing interfaces for highly efficient and low-power biomedical applications.

Development of Cryo-CMOS circuits for quantum computing and next-generation electronics.

Innovations in neuromorphic analogue processing for real-time bio-signal analysis.

Through multidisciplinary collaboration, cutting-edge fabrication techniques, and strong industry partnerships, our group is committed to pushing the boundaries of neurotechnology and integrated electronics, creating impactful solutions that enhance human health and enable future breakthroughs in computing and sensing.
