We are proud to announce the development of two new tape-outs, the AltnaQ and the cryo-CMOS chips, designed in GlobalFoundries 22nm technology to perform optimally at room and cryogenic temperatures as part of two Innovate UK projects Altnahara and Cryo-CMOS.
The first design is within the “Altnaharra” project, led by Quantum Motion, our team at the James Watt School of Engineering, University of Glasgow, tape-outed the AltnaQ chip that features a double-balanced RF up-conversion mixer, a filter with an integrated buffer showcasing a novel de-embedding technique, and several passive elements for cryogenic characterization, all designed to meet stringent industry standards.
The second design is a collaborative project called “cryo-CMOS” led by sureCore Ltd to accelerate the development of quantum computing IP. The cryo-CMOS chip includes two types of Digital to Analogue Converters (DACs): a current steering DAC and a capacitive DAC. Additionally, it features a clock driver circuit and a memory block. These IPs will be tested at cryogenic temperatures down to 4K to address the significant interconnect bottleneck in the quantum computing system.
